February is MOD MONTH!!!

Hello all!

I'd like to start by saying welcome to Jane (DearLadyJane), our latest writer and "Mod expert"

And yes, Maureen's current Mod obsession has paid off for her. In Mo's honor, February is "Mod Month." You may ask yourself, "What is Mod?"

MOD:
member of 1960s U.K. youth culture: in the United Kingdom in the 1960s, a member of a youth group known for their fashionable dress, motor scooters, and fights with motorcycle gangs rockers.
In short, many colors, minidresses/skirts, well, if anything just look at Maureens' past posts (And Patty's Pattie Boyd post. Kathryn's Maureen Starkey post is good, too.)

Here's Stella with a typical Mod look:
VERY DRAMATIC MAKEUP!!!!!!
-Long, fake lashes on the bottom and top
-lots of mascara, eyeliner (stella has none)
-Pale lips, practically invisible!
-Neat haircut with fringes/bangs (could be long or short)

Here're the Mod items in my closet:
White go-go boots, the silly red frock, the geometric dress, the flat-chested peacoat, the miniskirt... it's all Mod. The red shoes are similar to a Mary Quant design. Look her up, she's a good person to turn to for "Mod"
Nice, huh?

Remember, just be prepared. The Mod Month issue of Edge Magazine will be a large one (I will be SS again) but unfortunately the upcoming one won't be because this is my last SS day. But hey, that gives me a good opportunity to go hunting for Non-SS Mod looks!!

What do YOU think?
-Linda

PS I apologize, this month was sort of slow. But we're getting moving again, and Mod Month is the first major Edge event of 2011! :)

PPS, do you think Maureen looks like Stevie Nicks with this haircut? (she seems to think she does)

Here's Jane!

Hey, I'm Jane :)
Nice to be a part of the blog and all, thanks Kathryn! And Mo, ILY sorry for kicking your fancy American laptop (haha, American laptop! They have one less key on the keyboard, you know? :) )

Sorry bout that...

Hi, it's Mo again.

Nothing weird today.

Ok, my retard friend got all bent out of shape when she saw that really retarded scenery of Jane and Pete or whatever shizzz on the blog. So she wants me to apoligise if I offended any of you.

So there you have it, folks! SORRY!

PS Tell Jane that kicking laptops is not nice.

PPS Tell Kathryn that Blackpudlians ROCK and Liverpudlians, eh, well... hehe, just kidding. Liverpool is cool, too :)

Jane, Pete and Me. Jane designed the swimsuits :D Go Jane!!!

Here's a sophisticated look for Astrid...

Just Rude...

The other day, I was on Stardoll, just, looking around when I went on Mo's page to say hi. The first thing I saw was rude comments in her guestbook. I was shocked! Luckly, my friend Mo knows how to handle this.
Patty's ex REAL-LIFE boyfriend is still harassing people on Stardoll, even after he broke up with her.
Apparently, he has a new girlfriend, and he is asking her to harass people, too.

And wait, here's the best part, mikergh's presentation:
Says the guy that is naked in his suite...

This just makes me sick... my friends and I do not sleep with other men, and I'm a virgin, and I will stay that way until I'm married.

Jane Asher or Jane Seymour????

Wow, random...

I think Jane looks like Jane Seymour more than she does Jane Asher

Jane "McCann" (really Carson), Jane Seymour, Jane Asher (in that order)

Now, stealing Linda's line... "What do YOU think?????"

"I Dunno... Something Shmexy!"

I'm sure you all want to know what I was doing just now. Sitting in Pete and Janes living room, that's what! I'm sitting next to Pete, and Jane is layed out across us, her head was right in Pete's lap (Me: X( <-- That's a shuddering face) and they're being all playful. So what do I do? Make a random scenery, DUHHHH!!!!! Me: Any idea for a scenery? Jane: I dunno... something shmexy! Pete: Yeah, something shmexy! Me: Whatever.... I have no idea what was running through their minds. I put the laptop on my lap (sorry if my story is boring you all.... DEAL WITH IT!!!) Pete starts tickling Jane, and she starts laughing and flailing her legs... which subsequently KICK MY LAPTOP, AND IT FALLS!!!! AHHH!!! Here's how it comes out:

Pretty damn shmexy, huh???? They both thought it was funny. You can view it in the Edge Models club.

PS I tagged a lot of random things in this one...

  • Voile (black) pantyhose(voile)
  • Lase-up ankle boots(decades)

  • Black Volumizing mascara(Dot)
  • Black Lengthening mascara(Dot)
  • Fusion coral blush(dot)

Marilyn Monroe on Stardoll???

No, disappointingly, she is not.  But you can check out Jane's tribute account,.MARiLYN_M.

Doesn't she look like Marilyn?

But don't worry.  We'll keep you posted if Marilyn Monroe shows up(as a dressup or something)!

Superstar v.s. Non-Superstar

Lately Stardoll has been taking our money to pay for what???  I'd love to know.  I've decided to take up doing the Non-Superstar look of the week.  As we all know, Superstars get all these cool stuff.  So I'm here to give you good ideas on how to look awesome as non-superstar.

Here's my first look:

You can get all this stuff in Mortal Kiss.  Be creative.

And now, for the best part:
Stardoll released Wild Candy a while ago.

A non-Superstars' dream, isn't it.  Descent clothes, a little expensive however, but notice, no yellow stars next to the prices!!

And now, for the non-superstar pick of the week:
Fallen Angel's Faux Fur heels.  I guess Stardoll's trying to be animal friendly.

AND ONLY 5 STARDOLLARS!!!

So tah-tah for now!!
Check out next week for the look, the non-Superstar store of the day, and the Item of the week

Real-life Mod... May it Inspire You... to be MOD!!!

Mod, darlings Mod!!!!

As you can tell from my last post, I am a bit obsessed with Mod right now... Check it out!!!

Here's some REAL LIFE MOD!!!!

I have no idea who these models are. I googled "Mod" or something like that, and it came up.
You see they have many, many colors in their outfits!!!!
Look for:
-Geometric Prints (are you writing this down??? If not, you should!)
-Many, many colors!

I think this is a halloween costume, I'm not too sure.
Here's another thing to write down:
-Straight hair with bangs!!!
-Go-go boots
-Mini-dresses

You know what? I'm getting sick of telling you to write this down. Let's call these "Write this down" observations "Mo Notes"... whenever you see the term "Mo Notes," write the dang things down!!!

No idea who the models is. But I know the designer is Stella McCartney (who is amazingly-amazing!)

Mo's Notes:
-Mini-mini dresses
-Flat chests!!!

I change my mind. Maureen Starkey is. my. life.

Mo's notes:
-Minidress
-Long, tight sleeves
-Strappy shoes

PS, if you ever watched the movie Help! with the Beatles, you'd see that Ringo is pretty Mod. Yes, men were Mod, too!!

Mo's Notes:
-MEN WERE MODS TOO!!!

Ahh, Maureen Starkey again....
Looks like the dress that PattieAnneBoyd was wearing in my last post, huh?

Mo's Notes:
-Short sleeves are cool, too
-Jewelry is pretty simple
-The bun! That is an EXTREMELY MOD hairstyle (besides the long, straight hair with bangs and bobs with bangs) Every Mod woman in London circa 1966 knew how to do that hairstyle...

Pattie Boyd!!!

Mo's Notes:
-Minimalistic jacket
-Again, no chest
-Knee socks rock my socks!!!
-If you can see, she has strappy shoes...

NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL MOD!!!!
TWIGGY!!!!
Ignore the top left picture, that isn't Mod what-so-ever.
Mo's Notes:
-Observe the knee socks!!!
-Converse shoes are pretty good (not the patterened ones... they are dead grotty!!!!) (if you don't know what grotty means, it means "grotesque!!!")
-Flat-chest dresses!!!
-Sweaters
-Pixie cut.
I hope I have enlightened you all.

Mod, Mod, Mod!!!

Hello... This is the great Maureen speaking... and MOD IS IN!!!!

Mod is a youth subculture of the 1960s, known for its minidresses, miniskirts, go-go boots and overall fashionable dress.

Some "Mods" you may know (or can look up) are:
-Pattie Boyd
-Twiggy

I want to tell Linda to make winter a "Mod" winter. I guess we can have a mod fest! (If you think I'm being weird, well, where have you been????)

In honor of a "Mod" winter, here's a makeup how-to:

(By the way pictured is PattieAnneBoyd (top) and Pattie Boyd (bottom)
You will need:
-Ash-blue eyeshadow (Dot)
-BLACK Lengthening mascara
-BLACK volumizing mascara
-Pale, pale lips!!!

First, apply a layer of volumising mascara on top lashes.

Then, put lengthening mascara on both top and bottom lashes

Finally, put on the eye shadow. Also be sure to change your lip color!!!

Here's a fashion example:

Items used:
-50s shoes (Decades)
-Geometric Mod Shift (Decades)

Here are MY mod looks:

The one to the left: To the Right: (Mucho sorry if the format screws up)

-Black stockings - Musical cap (Pretty in pink)
-Black dress (Otto) - White boots (MoxieTeens)
-Boots w/ Fringes (Archive) -black stockings
-PS I am wearing it NOW - Silk scarf (Mortal Kiss)

Kathryn's Mod Look
-Shortywig Tee (Fudge)
-Red shoes (Rio)
Here's Jane.... the MASTER of Stardoll Mod

Outfit:
-inspired by Pucci (no longer available)
-Peep-toe heels (I'm pretty sure it's from Rio)
Another one (this dress is more Mod in my opinion)

She is wearing:
-Inspired by pucci (Rio- I dunno if it's still available)
-Same shoes
Hope you like it!!
May your days be merry and bright.... may all of your winters be... MOD!!!!
